Current Practice.
In my Independent Practice, clients are mainly self-referred.
Occasionally referrals come from HR or Occupational Health Departments. Clients have also been referred by GPs and Ministers of Religion. Organisations have requested training days.
I have experience of, and am available for, on-site Critical Incident work.
On a regular basis, I work in a hospice setting and as a telephone counsellor and trainer for an EAP.
Other experience has included working in a University Student Counselling Service and for a GP Practice comprising five doctors. I have also counselled adults in mental health settings. My agency work was with adults, young people, children and couples.
Supervision and Training.
I supervise counsellors in private practice and agency counsellors. For a number of years I have offered clinical supervision to the staff in a hospice. As a qualified teacher, I have trained counsellors and interested groups on counselling subjects, and assisted people with their B.A.C.P. Registration/Acccreditation.
About Me.
My initial training as a counsellor was in 1995.
Prior to that I was a teacher specialising in teaching the deaf & partially hearing.
I later trained as a couple counsellor with Relate, and at Bristol University in critical incident trauma work. I'm a qualified supervisor and trained with Cascade Training Associates.
In 2001 I acquired my B.A.C.P. Registration/Accreditation. More recently I have trained in sensorimotor psychotherapy which uses a somatic approach linking neuroscience to attachment and trauma issues. I live in Tring and have three adult children.
As a registered counsellor with the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists, I am bound by it's Ethical Framework for Good Practice, and am subject to it's Complaints Procedure.
